We Say Goodby To A Good Friend

Longtime member, Ford Forser passed away in his sleep Wednesday morning, February 24th, 2010, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Ford's memorial service is scheduled at Pioneer Church for Friday, March 26th at 3pm. Ford was just 4 month shy of his 90th birthday, and leaves his wife Margaret, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In the picture, Ford is the "Wise Man" in the green outfit on the left-hand side, bearing the red box. This is one of my favorite pictures of Ford. Taken Christmas Eve 2000, we had put together a simple Christmas tableau, and while the pastor read the Christmas story from Luke, the various Christmas characters would appear. There is always something wonderful about a candlelight Christams Eve service, and this service was a favorite. Ford had taught acting (excuse me, theatre arts), and acting as our "stage director", he staged us "just so" alowing us to help illuminate the scripture, and not detract from it. That in essence was the man - staying true to the Scripture, staying true to our God! What a legacy, and what a good friend! We will miss you Ford, but we will not forget!
